What should I feed my puppy?

A dog is what he eats. Go to a dog show, look at the excellent condition ALL of the dogs are in. Their owners and handlers spend a ton of money on PREMIUM dog food. We feed Purina ProPlan Selects, primarily for the real meat, poultry or fish. Puppies get turkey. Adults get salmon. Steam-cooked at the start to lock in nutrients. To prevent cancer and lengthen the lives of our dogs we chose a food with nutritional extras like high levels of antioxidants, including those from blueberry pomace, carrots, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes. No ground corn, animal by-products (intestins) or artificial flavors or colors.

Breeding bitches get "Bitch Pills". Stud dogs get "Norwegian Kelp".

We have three 20.6 cu. ft. upright freezers and several guns.

Wild Pork is contains much less fat than Domestic or Production Pork. The meat will be a bit darker and the grain will be tighter. This doesn't mean the meat will be tough or taste bad. It just simply means that it is a bit dry compared to store bought pork. The dogs' don't seem to mind.

Venison steaks and sausages are a bit like beef but is richer, they LOVE the gravy, and we always collect it. It has a finer texture and is leaner than most meats. Organ meats of deer are very good for dogs. Ever heard of "humble pie." Venison is lower in calories, cholesterol and fat.

Wild Turkey would probably be the most healthy supplement but it takes a lot of work hunting them for a limited amount of meat.
