Should I get a mutt or a pure bred dog?

Pure bred dogs have "EXTRA". When humans took on the task of influencing our environemtn and custom designing dogs for our own needs (hunting) and desires (companionship), we didn’t create the characteristics from thin air. We selected traits that the wild dog alreay had. We merely adapted and refined basic dog traits that were already there. In other words, we took what evolution had already given the wild dogs and reshaped it to our liking. I think of breed in a dog as that "extra" kick that boosts the dog’s natural instincts.

All dogs are predators. But we have made the sporting breeds extra focused predators.

All dogs like to dig and chase small prey, but terriers are superdriven.

All dogs love to run, but greyhounds can run 40 MPH, and huskies can run all day and night.

All dogs have the natural ability to fight, but the bully breeds have been genetically engineered to not stop fighting.

The more pure the bloodline, the more that genetic "EXTRA" will probably play a part in your dog’s behavior.

Pure breed dogs have a purpose and they (generally) know that purpose. They love that purpose. Mutts are often lost in all of this....
